GM Bast's unique hands on approach to teaching based off solid bio-mechanical principles makes learning fun and personal. With over 37 years of experience in the martial arts, GM Bast has established himself as an instructor that gets results. His philosophy of teaching principles rather than techniques gives a student the tools needed to succeed regardless of experience or style. GM Bast is also an avid practitioner of Tai Chi, Eastern Meditation and Energetics for Health.

Master Matthew "Matty" Williamson, Lead Instructor

Master Williamson is the Lead Instructor at MKC Karate. He began his path in the arts in the 90's. Sensei Williamson is also an avid Yoga practitioner. When he is not at his day job as a litigation attorney he is studying or teaching the arts. His devotion to our growth and development has been instrumental.

Master Tom Harman, Assistant Instructor

Master Harman began his journey in martial arts in the late 1980s while attending graduate school in the Midwest, where he studied Shaolin-do. Later, he met Patrick Bast in Maryland (1990), where they studied Shotokan karate. Master Harman loves teaching and sharing the gift of martial arts. He is a life-long learner and trains every day. “Martial arts is part of what keeps me young.”

Sensei Julie Anbarchian, Instructor

Sensei Anbarchian is an Assistant Instructor at MKC Karate.  She began training in Ryukyu Kempo with Sensei Bast and Sensei Williamson in 2011.  She practices Dzogchen and Vipassana meditation and yoga and has practiced tai-chi as well. She works as a Shellfish Specialist for the FDA, with a background in biological and environmental engineering.  She is also working on a Masters Degree to become a science teacher for middle school students. Julie is equally devoted to being a teacher and learner of Ryukyu Kempo. She is passionate about teaching and loves working with the dedicated students at MKC Karate
